Get to Know Dr. Tara Orech

This week in our “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors” feature we’re profiling Dr. Tara K. Orech at Park Dental Silver Lake. In her profile, Dr. Orech shares her treatment philosophy, what she enjoys about being a dentist, as well as some fun facts about her personal life. Learn more about Dr. Orech below!

What made you choose dentistry?

I have always loved science, teaching, and working with my hands. Dentistry is a perfect blend of all three!  

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding? 

What’s really great about dentistry is being able to see the direct impact I have on my patient’s lives. Especially when a patient walks in with a broken or painful tooth, or a fear of the dentist, it’s so rewarding to watch them walk out with a smile on their face!   

What’s your care/treatment philosophy? 

My goal is to always guide patients to better oral health. I want them to feel informed and empowered to make the best decision for them, and comfortable with me to follow through with their treatment.  

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on? 

I love being a family practitioner! I find pediatric dentistry the most fun, but it’s so rewarding to work with patients in all stages of life. One of my greatest compliments is when a patient entrusts me with the dental care of their entire family.  

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental? 

I started at Park Dental in 2017, right after completing school at the University of Minnesota. I have been here for 7 years and intend to stay for a long time!  

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental? 

I love that working at Park Dental allows me the freedom to focus on my clinical skills, while having the confidence that the business side of things is in good hands!  

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice? 

I love being part of a group practice because it allows so much collaboration. I gain so much from discussing cases with my colleges, and helps us all remain accountable to produce high quality dentistry.  

Now, let’s get to know Dr. Orech on a more personal level!

What was your very first job? 

I worked at a minor league baseball stadium, hacking peanuts and Cracker Jack in the stands! It was such a fun atmosphere, not to mention a great workout.  

What’s your favorite food or drink? 

I haven’t found much food I don’t like. I even have a terrible sweet tooth…good thing I know how to brush well!  

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? 

I wanted to go to Iceland and southeast Asia before the pandemic. I can’t wait for that to be a possibility again!  

What’s your favorite thing about living in Minnesota/Wisconsin? 

I’m from the suburbs of Chicago. I love the Twin Cities because I can enjoy everything a city has to offer; great restaurants, festivals, theater, etc. but still get out and enjoy so much nature close by as well!  

What’s your favorite season? 

I love fall. Even though it’s been years since I’ve been in school, that crisp weather always feels like a new start!
