School Teeth Healthy Lunch & Snack Ideas

February 16, 2024

Have you ever thought about what snacks and foods are healthy for your children’s teeth? Follow our guide below to learn about what teeth healthy snacks you can provide for your child.

What kinds of food are not healthy for your teeth?

Foods that are high in sugars and carbohydrates are not good for your teeth. Both carbohydrates and sugars can form an enamel-attacking acid that could cause cavities. When kids are on the go, it is easy for them to snack on pretzels, chips, crackers, etc. Try switching these quick snacks out for cheese sticks, plain yogurt, or cottage cheese. These foods are high in calcium which could help strengthen your teeth.

What foods are healthier for teeth?

Alongside cheese sticks, plain yogurt, and cottage cheese; fresh veggies, and fibrous fruits like apples are a healthier option. These foods are high in water and fiber, which can help clean teeth. Nuts such as almonds and cashews are a great snack as well. These are lower in carbohydrates, so it lowers the risk of cavities.

Try incorporating these foods during snack times and lunches to lower the risk of your child getting cavities. Don’t forget to schedule a hygiene appointment every 6 months with your local Park Dental practice!
