Drink Water Week

May 04, 2023

It is Drink Water Week! Here are a few reasons why you should drink water to keep a healthy and happy smile.

  1. Drinking fluoridated water is one of the best ways to keep your teeth naturally strong. Most tap water from city municipalities has fluoride in it. In 2015, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a proposal for the optimal fluoride level to be in drinking water to help prevent tooth decay.
  2. Drinking water helps wash away leftover food particles between teeth that can create cavity-causing bacteria to form.
  3. There is no sugar! Cutting back on the amount of sugary drinks that you consume will help prevent you from the possibility of getting cavities. To start, try replacing 1 sugary drink in your daily diet with water.
  4. Say goodbye to dry mouth. Did you know that saliva is your mouth’s first defense against tooth decay? Start drinking water when you feel like you’re getting low on saliva.
  5. No more bad breath! We talked about how by drinking water it washes away food particles, but it can also wash away food residue that can cause bad breath! If you don’t have access to brush your teeth after eating, both rinsing with water and drinking it can help prevent bad breath.

Choose water as your beverage of choice this week to keep those teeth happy and healthy.

In order to provide our patients with the most accurate and beneficial information, we only post star ratings and comments for a doctor once they have received a minimum of 30 surveys within the previous 12 months.
