4 Dental Health Care Tips for Teens

February 22, 2023

Teenagers are constantly on the go, from waking up early for school, to staying up late studying for tomorrow’s test. The one thing that teens may be forgetting about is their dental health. With these few tips, your teen can have the healthiest and happiest smile around!

Tip #1: Brush and Floss Twice a Day –

This should be standard practice already, but this serves more as a reminder. Don’t forget about the importance of brushing and flossing twice a day! Both brushing and flossing helps remove plaque build up and will aid in the prevention of cavities.

Tip #2: Say No To Vaping –

There are many side effects that are caused by vaping. Such as dry mouth, tooth discoloration, and bacterial changes to the mouth. The changes of bacteria in your mouth can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and different infections. Avoiding vaping can help reduce the risk of getting oral cancer and developing periodontitis. If you need help quitting, visit https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/features/quitlines/index.html for more information.

Tip #3: Wear Mouth Guards During Sports Games –

We’ve published a blog post about the importance of wearing a mouth guard when playing sports, especially contact sports like football and wrestling. This tip is so important, that we wanted to share it again! You can read our original blog post about this topic here if you would like to learn more.

Tip #4: See Your Dentist Regularly –

Take this as another friendly reminder to schedule a visit with your Park Dental dentist! You can request an appointment anytime using our online scheduler.

We’re happy that you are taking time out of your day to read about how to take care of your teen’s oral health. We can’t wait to see your smile at Park Dental!

In order to provide our patients with the most accurate and beneficial information, we only post star ratings and comments for a doctor once they have received a minimum of 30 surveys within the previous 12 months.
